Our communities

We're committed to making a positive impact wherever we can in the community.

Helping other communities

We recognise the difference we can make in our communities – the same ones in which our members and our colleagues live, work and retire into.

We work with local and national charities and community groups and form lasting partnerships – and, where we can, we put to use the skills, knowledge and experience of our own people. We do this with humility, working with communities to understand what’s important to them, what they’re already doing and how we can have the greatest and most meaningful impact.

Railpen connects with causes aligned to our purpose and our values. We do this through charity partnerships and via charities that are chosen by our colleagues

Our charity partner

Our charity partner is Railway Benefit Fund (RBF) who've been supporting the heartbeat of the UK’s railways for over 165 years. Our partnership with them brings together two organisations with a shared heritage and passion for the rail industry and the rail workers that it depends on.

RBF's CEO, Jo Kaye, said: "Our partnership with Railpen deepens our long-standing relationship with them and is vital in helping us continue our work across the UK rail community. By working together, we can expand our reach and ensure that more railway people have a helping hand when they need it most."

Our partnerships sees us supporting RBF’s annual Heart of Gold Awards – a celebration of rail workers who make a real difference in their workplace or communityas well as initiatives like RBF’s Million Step Team Challenge, which brings together people from across the rail industry (including our own colleagues) to mark industry achievements and milestones like Railway 200.

Railpen communities

At each of our local offices, we have active social committees supported by Railpen. These groups work hard to support our fundraising initiatives and also opportunities for us to come together as colleagues.
