As a Senior Development Manager at Railpen, Neil will lead on the delivery of key assets in its Cambridge innovation cluster, including Mill Yard, its 180,000 sq ft mixed-use campus in Cambridge, Cambridge Retail Park, and 230 Newmarket Road. Neil will also have oversight of 12 Smithfield in London, with plans due to be submitted for the redevelopment of the office building later this year. Neil will also play a central role in Railpen’s industrial portfolio, including the development of High Wycombe X and South Mimms X. His work will reflect Railpen’s core objective of delivering market-defining assets that set the bar for quality, amenity provision, and experience, and which ultimately support UK growth and secure long-term returns for its members.

Matthew Howard, Head of Property at Railpen, said: “We have made some significant headway across our UK property portfolio this year, and this is only possible with an exceptional team to deliver our strategic objectives. Neil is a great addition to the property team, and his wealth of experience will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and grow our portfolio to deliver sustainable returns for our members."

Neil joins Railpen with over 25 years’ experience in the property development industry, most recently with Legal & General, overseeing a wide range of projects. This included work on The Beacon in Eastbourne, The Grafton Centre in Cambridge, and Dover St James in Dover. Neil has also led on several office assets, such as India Buildings in Liverpool, and new build industrial assets, including Prime Park in Hampstead, Birmingham and Gateway and Tesla at Bar Hill in Cambridgeshire. Neil has also worked with Hammerson, Wilson Bowden Developments, and Cyril Sweett, providing him with both depth and breadth of expertise across multiple sectors.

Neil Crawford, Senior Development Manager at Railpen, added: “Railpen has so many high quality schemes in its portfolio, and it is exciting to be part of a team that lives and breathes innovation, transformation, and quality. I have built strong experience across multiple assets in a variety of sectors, and this role is an ideal opportunity to utilise that knowledge to shape and deliver places that will create lasting value for not just the people in those developments, but Railpen’s members too.”

Neil joins a series of new hires in Railpen’s property team this year, including Emma Goodford, who heads up life sciences and innovation leasing across its Cambridge-Oxford portfolio, and Parminder Singh, who is now Development Director, leading Railpen’s major developments in London and the UK.
