The Railpen Pension Scheme was presented with the Best Pensions Governance award in
recognition of the Scheme’s Investment Transformation Programme (ITP) and the significant changes underway to its investment arrangements, governance structure and fresh
approach to accessing returns.


Speaking about the award, Chief Executive at RPMI Railpen, Chris Hitchen said: “We welcome the industry-wide recognition of our leading approach to investment strategy and
scheme governance. With the ITP still underway, RPMI will continue to enhance the way
we invest the assets of the Railways Pension Scheme to ultimately deliver secure, affordable and responsible returns for our member clients.”


In addition, Chairman of the Railpen Investments Board, RPMI’s investment arm, Paul
Trickett picked up the top award in one of the closest-fought categories for Outstanding
Personal Contribution to Pensions. Commenting on the win, Paul Trickett said “I am thrilled
to have won this award and for the acknowledgement of my work in pensions. As Chairman of the Railpen Investments Board, I am delighted to be part of fundamental changes
of the investment process taking place at one of the UK’s largest pension schemes.”
